Learn about what beading and wiring entail. General information on stringing wire used for beading; crimps; Beads (plastic, polymer, lucite, glass), semi-precious, pearls, lampwork (Murano, dichroic, handcrafted), seed beads and how they are sized; tools (pliers, crimpers, hammers, files) WARNING: Beading is addicting! Questions welcomed.

What is a jump-ring and how do I open and close it? What is a crimp; what is a crimping tool? How many strand beading wire do I use? The 3 most important tips about beading. The colour wheel, balancing with bead placement and sizing.

CLASS: Sundays in JULY - Time: 1:00 - 4:00pm

Learn about wire and it's different guages, hardness and shapes.

What tools are needed:

Pliers: What is a box-joint? What is a lap-joint? Which is better? A double-leaf spring, coil spring or no spring at all? Handles, overall length, precision...and finally the types: Chain-nose, round-nose, flat-nose - all this will be covered.

Files: Do I need them?

Techniques: Open and closed loops; spirals and their infinite uses. Easy ear hooks, shapely "S" clasp, and quick framework pendant.

These necklaces are an example of both beading and wiring basics.
